Kenneth Fry — Founder, Terps USA®

Kenneth Fry, Founder of Terps USA

Kenneth Fry is the founder of Terps USA LLC, the Colorado-based company behind the world's first botanical terpene spray system for cannabis flower. He is also the founder of Terps Bud Wash and Terps USA Research — three interconnected platforms built around a single conviction: that post-harvest cannabis science is decades behind where it should be, and that growers, processors, and consumers deserve better tools, better information, and honest answers.

Fry launched Terps USA in 2019 after identifying a gap that no one in the industry was addressing at scale — the systematic loss of aroma, flavor, and terpene integrity that occurs between harvest and the end consumer. His response was not a single product but a complete system: botanical terpene sprays, precision atomization hardware, flavor-forward formulation tools, and a body of published research to support every claim on the label.

The System He Built

Terps USA is not a liquidizer company. It is not a flavoring company. It is a post-harvest enhancement system designed to give cultivators and processors control over terpene expression at every stage of the workflow — from dry trim rooms to commercial dispensary shelves. The core system includes:

  • Terpene Sprays — 14+ botanical strain profiles, PG-free and PEG-free, formulated for even distribution across flower without carriers that combust into harmful byproducts.
  • The Spray Master Atomizer — precision air-pressurized delivery hardware engineered to replace aerosol and squeeze-bottle application methods that produce uneven coverage and waste.
  • Liquidizers — wax, rosin, distillate, and shatter conversion formulas for vape cart production, designed for compatibility and repeatability at commercial scale.
  • Flavor Burst — high-concentration flavor architecture for operators who need customizable aroma profiles beyond standard strain profiles.
  • High Potency Terpenes — concentrated botanical terpene inputs for advanced formulation and blending workflows.
  • Terpski AI Assistant — an integrated guidance system that helps operators select products, dial in ratios, and troubleshoot formulation decisions in real time.

Every component is designed to work together. That is the difference between Terps USA and a single-purpose product: it is an operating system for post-harvest terpene management, not a standalone solution.

Fry is an ORCID-registered researcher and the author of five published whitepapers through Terps USA Research. Each paper is DOI-indexed through Zenodo, open access under Creative Commons CC BY 4.0, and written to make complex cannabis science accessible to cultivators, processors, and commercial operators — not just academic audiences.

Published Whitepapers

WP-2026-01 — Terpene Spray Science: Botanical Application, PG-Free Formulation, and Post-Harvest Enhancement
The foundational paper on how botanical terpene sprays work, why PG and PEG carriers are incompatible with combustion chemistry, and what post-harvest enhancement means in a commercial context.

WP-2026-02 — PG and PEG Vaping Safety: Why Carrier Chemistry Matters
Documents the combustion chemistry of propylene glycol and polyethylene glycol, the connection to EVALI, and why PG-free formulation is not a marketing claim but a safety baseline.

WP-2026-03 — The Aspergillus Tax: How Microbial Contamination Is Costing Cannabis Cultivators Six Figures Per Recall
Documents the six-layer economic cascade of cannabis microbial contamination — testing costs, crop destruction, regulatory fines, laboratory reliability gaps, the overdrying quality penalty, and the institutionalization of contamination history into insurance and commercial lending. Draws on documented recall events across California, Colorado, Michigan, New York, and Oklahoma (2024–2026).

WP-2026-04 — The War on Vapor: How the Vaping Industry Was Targeted and What It Means for Botanical Terpene Spray Users
Examines the regulatory and media campaign against the vaping industry following EVALI and its downstream effect on the perception of botanical terpene products that share no chemistry with the implicated compounds.

WP-2026-05 — The Transparency Standard: Safety, Combustion Chemistry, and the Case for Botanical Terpene Enhancement in Commercial Cannabis
The comprehensive case for full ingredient disclosure, safety benchmarking, and botanical sourcing as the commercial standard for terpene spray products in a maturing regulated market.

Fry also founded Terps Bud Wash, a dedicated platform focused on harvest sanitation, bud washing protocols, drying, and curing science. Terps Bud Wash addresses the upstream stage of the post-harvest workflow — the period between cut and cure where microbial contamination, aroma loss, and drying errors are most likely to reduce final product quality. Together, Terps USA and Terps Bud Wash represent the full arc of post-harvest cannabis quality management.

In 2023, Terps USA was named in a trademark infringement lawsuit seeking $985,000 in damages. The plaintiff alleged that the Terps USA brand infringed on their claimed trademark rights. After a full trial, the jury deliberated for 30 minutes and returned a verdict of zero damages. Every claim was rejected. The Terps USA® trademark — USPTO Registration No. 6578151 — was upheld. Fry does not treat this outcome as a footnote. He treats it as the clearest possible demonstration that Terps USA was built on legitimate foundations — legally, scientifically, and commercially — and that it stood behind that foundation when challenged.

Today, Fry continues to lead Terps USA and Terps Bud Wash while expanding research, product development, and educational initiatives focused on improving cannabis quality, safety, and post-harvest outcomes.
